As a parent to a newborn baby, you will appreciate all the help you can get. The thing is, a newborn baby’s skin is extremely sensitive and prone to rash if not careful. Couple that with the fact that you are still learning your baby’s likes and dislikes and weaknesses, it might take some time for you to decide what is best for them.
One of those decisions includes diaper. Although disposable diapers are all well and good, but cloth diapers are another choice that keeps getting better and better over the years. Given below are different cloth diaper folds for a newborn baby.
Angel Wing
This fold is more suitable for boys. All that is needed to be done is to make folds on all the sides then fanning out at the top side. On the bottom, make fold about a quarter upwards. Now place the baby on it, fold the bottom part over them, and secure the wings with a safety pin and you are done.
Kite Folds
This fold is suitable for boys, or children who sleep on their front. This one involves four steps only. From the longer sides, fold the right and left corners in to the center in such a way that they are overlapping. Now you have to fold the top and bottom corners two edges and a quarter respectively, then create a trapezoid by folding the bottom in the upward direction again. Now, put your baby on that, and fold it over them in the trapezoid portion, and secure everything with the help of two security pins. For a new born, you have to make more folds just to make sure that the whole thing fits your baby’s shape.
Standard Tri Fold
Another fold that is suitable for both genders, standard tri fold is easy to do and remember. After laying out the cloth diaper, make diagonal folds at right and left corner, making it about a third of the diaper. After that, fold it again from bottom to up about a third, and after placing the baby on it, fold the bottom and wings over the bottom and waist and use a safety pin to secure everything.
Origami Fold
First of all, lay the cloth flat, fold it in half, make another half fold, and then create an upside down triangle by pulling the first layer of right side at bottom corner diagonally. Now you have to flip over they diaper, then fold the square piece two times. Finally, you can out your baby’s bottom on the diaper, then all that is left to do is to fold the bottom end over the bay and securing the wings on the waist with a safety pin. This fold is suitable equally for boys and girls.
Jelly Roll Fold
This fold is very much more easier compared to previous entries, as no fancy folding is required. First of all, lay it out flat, and make fold from two parallel sides to a third until they overlap. Now fold the top and bottom parts around a quarter and an eighth respectively and pace the baby over it. Fold the bottom part over the, well bottom and the wings over waist, and pin down everything with a safety pin.
